Lorence Martial Arts stands true to our purpose. That purpose is to teach the best martial arts to both children and adults, to encourage everyone of them to their best, to build character in those students, and to have fun doing it.

The tried and true traditions of the past are blended with the best of today to form the environment and teaching strategies in all of our programs. This means even our youngest students sit silent before a taekwon-do class to help prepare for training, yet their techniques and drills are made appropriate for their understanding and age. We blend drills and application in both our taekwon-do and eskrima classes so not only do our students know how to perform a technique correctly, but they learn how to use it appropriately and even spontaneously.

We value a family feel. Therefore, besides having great weekly class offerings, we also encourage our families to participate in non-class events such as our annual Christmas party and Summer picnic, along with Family Fun Nights. Adult students encourage the younger ones, and we impress upon all our students to make sure they help new students feel welcome. Not only the children make new friends, but the adults and teenagers form bonds that help raise each other up and turn into friendships outside of the school.

We also seek to develop a culture of caring at Lorence Martial Arts. Our The Way of the Hands and Feet Projects are community service outings where we partner with local organizations that are working with special demographics or those in need. Some groups we have volunteered with include The Salvation Army of Waukesha County, LifeStriders, and Faith, Hope, & Love - Support for Children in Crisis.  This type of work is not just for our students; we ask all family members to participate.

Martial arts training has been historically known to not only teach individuals how to protect themselves and stay healthy in a fun, yet challenging activity, but to also encourage and promote personal development such as respect, focus, and self-discipline. This component is critical to the success of our students and our school. If our students are allowed to train but not be pushed to be the best person they can be in character, then we have failed. As you observe a class and then become part of our martial arts family you will clearly see how true this is - we cannot be great in what we do with our martial arts training if we do not also look deep within to grow on the inside, in our character.
